Terms
Terms of Use
The short version: Meridiem is unofficial, arrival times are estimates from public transit data, and nothing here is a purchase until you actually pay for something.
Last updated 10 October 2026.
What these terms cover
These terms apply when you use meridiemtransit.com, the web app at app.meridiemtransit.com, the Meridiem Now app, and Meridiem hardware. By using any of them, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect.
Meridiem is unofficial
Meridiem is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SFMTA, Muni, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, 511, or any transit agency. Agency and line names appear only to describe the service you’re looking at.
Arrival times are estimates
Live arrivals are powered by 511.org, using data that transit agencies publish. That data is provided as is, and it can be late, wrong, or missing: buses get rerouted, predictions drift, and some buses never show up. Meridiem’s reliability ratings and “leave now” advice are our best guess, not a promise.
Please leave yourself a buffer when it matters, and check with the transit agency for anything time critical. We aren’t responsible for a missed bus, a missed connection, or anything that follows from one.
The waitlist and pre-orders
Joining the waitlist is not an order and commits you to nothing. Prices, features, and timing shown on this site may change before units go on sale. When we open orders, we’ll show you the terms of sale, including the price, delivery estimate, and refund policy, before you pay anything.
Meridiem Pro
Meridiem Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds, and Apple’s terms apply to the purchase. You can cancel a subscription anytime in your Apple account settings.
Open source code
The open source board is released under the MIT License. If you run your own copy, the license that ships with the code governs it, and you’re responsible for following the terms of whatever transit data you connect it to.
Fair use of the service
Please don’t try to break, overload, or get around the limits of our servers, scrape or resell the data we serve, or use Meridiem for anything unlawful. We may limit or block access that does.
No warranty
Meridiem is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Meridiem isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it, or $50 if you haven’t paid us anything.
Changes
If these terms change materially, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Using Meridiem after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by California law. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in San Francisco, California.
